Institutional type steel clad doors shall have a thickness of 54mm (nominal). Doors shall have 3.0mm side clearance and bevelled lock edge (if required) to operate without binding.
- Doors shall be custom-made, of the types and sizes shown on approved shop or architectural drawings, and shall be prepared for hardware in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendation and the final approved Hardware Schedule.
- Doors shall be constructed using commercial-quality Electro galvanised steel, the steel used shall be free from scale, pitting, coil breaks, or other surface blemishes. Door face thickness shall be 2mm.
- Door edge seams shall be stitch welded and bog finished smooth such that there are no visible seams. Doors shall be strong, rigid, and neat in appearance.
- Doors shall be constructed using 50mm Tri Board Core, then fully encapsulated in 2.0mm steel.
- Doors shall be mortised, reinforced, drilled, and tapped at the factory for completely templated, mortised hardware in accordance with the final approved hardware schedule and templates provided by the hardware supplier. Where surface-mounted hardware is to be an applied door shall be reinforced, drilled, and tapped only if specified by installer.
Frames shall be constructed of commercial quality Electro galvanised steel. The steel shall be free of scale, pitting, coil breaks or other surface defects. Metal thickness shall be 2.5mm (steel clad doors) 2.0mm (solid ply doors)
- Frames shall be custom-made welded units of the sizes and types shown on approved shop or architectural drawings. Finished work shall be strong and rigid, neat in appearance, square, and free of defects, wraps, or buckles. Pressed steel jambs shall be straight and of uniform profile throughout their lengths.
- Corner joints shall have contact edges, closed tight with faces mitred Corner joints shall be continuously welded
- Frames shall be mortised, reinforced, drilled, and tapped for all template mortised hardware only, in accordance with the final approved hardware schedule and templates provided by the hardware supplier. Where surface mounted hardware is to be applied, frames shall have reinforcements only; all drilling and tapping shall be done by installer
- Jamb & head Fixing shall be Shape Technology adjustable anchoring system, suitable for all types of wall construction
- Plaster guards made from no less than 2mm steel shall be welded in place at all hardware rebates.
- All frames shall be provided with a temporary steel spreader welded to the feet of the jambs to serve as bracing during shipping and handling. Remove temporary spreaders to set frame at the permanent location.
- All door frames will have a maximum 10.0mm clearance from wall opening size
- Between doors and frames, at head and jambs: min 3.0mm, max 5.0mm
- At floor level will be in accordance with architect specified clearance including any undercut required

- Glazing Assembly shall consist of fixed glass area as shown on the plans and indicated by the window schedule. Shape Technology style window beads, fixed members, and other components shall be shop assembled into complete units.
- The General Contractor and Shape Technology shall review and approve all glass installation requirements for proper glass opening allowances.
- All window frames will have a maximum 10.0mm clearance from wall opening size.
- Glazing rebates will include tolerances for compression tape.
